Who we are

The people who form our teams come from a diverse range of academic and professional backgrounds, with wide-spread expertise, industry experience and skills across many sectors and educational fields.

Our teams collaborate and partner with UNSW Sydney’s staff and students, as well as through industry leaders, professional bodies and international alliances, to drive world-class initiatives that deliver the UNSW Scientia Educational Experience.

Our Portfolio

The Academic Development Services (ADS) team provides UNSW staff with professional development, recognition and reward opportunities which support and enhance quality teaching, learning and scholarship. 

Our Academic Lead, Curriculum works closely with Faculties and Schools to ensure continual improvement in learning and teaching across UNSW. Core to these activities is the provision of academic and scholarly support for program and course design, student learning and outcomes design, teaching, assessment and feedback strategies, and quality assurance of learning and teaching approaches. 

Education Focussed (EF) Career Development Team provides dedicated support to academic staff who have chosen to focus fully on educational endeavours. 

Team of 40+ academic and professional staff, delivering two core services: Educational Design & Development and Educational Intelligence & Analytics. They provide quintessential expertise, resources and support in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of educational offerings at UNSW.

UNSW’s Learning Environments is involved in the strategic planning, design and delivery of world-class learning and teaching environments which are interactive, dynamic and flexible.

The Operations team provides comprehensive business support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) Portfolio including: administrative operations, finances and budget, human resources, IT support and web requirements, communications, and the Portfolio’s physical environment including occupational health and safety.

The SACS team supports students’ academic and career success through a range of programs, resources and activities. These include academic language courses, learning and study skills training, career education, and employability experiences within Australia and globally.

The UNSW Online team provides strategic leadership and dedicated operational support to consolidating and expanding the University’s endeavours in online education.

Work Integrated Learning (WIL) at UNSW enables students to work directly with industry and community partners for credit towards their degree. The WIL Central Team provides leadership and support for designing and scaling WIL opportunities at UNSW.

Professor Rorden Wilkinson

is the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Education & Student Experience

Professor Wilkinson has a distinguished record of contributions to education, research, and knowledge exchange across the globe. He has arrived at UNSW from the University of Sussex in the UK, where he held the position of Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Innovation. Before moving to Sussex, Professor Wilkinson worked for 17 years at the University of Manchester. He has also worked, and held visiting positions, at Brown University, Wellesley College and the Australian National University. He began his academic career and conducted his doctoral work at the University of Auckland.

Professor Wilkinson is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and the Royal Society of Arts.
