Curriculum Transformation

The context

In 2026, UNSW’s Learning & Teaching community is preparing for the upcoming academic calendar change to flex-semesters, which will take effect in 2028. At the same time, our new Progress for All strategy sets out that our educational offerings become truly inclusive and empower all our students to become successful, future-ready graduates and positive contributors to society.

As a result, we are all reimagining how we design and deliver our courses and programs. Specific support and resources are being made available to aid these endeavours.

Support, events and resources

For the UNSW Learning & Teaching community.

UNSW’s Curriculum Transformation aligns with the flex-semesters transition and includes three main initiatives: the Pedagogical Principles, Assessment & Feedback and Program Simplification.

To support redesigning and restructuring our courses and programs across UNSW, a set of Pedagogical Principles has recently been defined. These principles rearticulate what we value in learning and teaching and provide a clear framework for aligning our educational offerings with UNSW’s new strategic goals.

Curriculum Transformation Support Model

Curriculum Transformation Support Model

Through a collaboration between the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Education Portfolio, the Student Experience Program and Nexus teams, a specific support model has been established. It includes a three-tiered approach to guide faculty colleagues through this transition, from a range of resources, through structured training opportunities, all the way to self-evaluation guides and one-to-one tailored support (click on image to enlarge).
