SACS is Open: Still here for students!

A big congratulations to all UNSW students, yet again!  They have journeyed into Week 8 of Term 2 and made it!  Please assure your students that the University continues to have their academic and career success in mind, regardless of their location of study during this never before experienced COVID-19 stay at home era.

Student Academic and Career Success (SACS) is still open for your students!  There is the routine 1:1 Academic Language and Learning (ALL) and Career Development Learning (CDL) consultations and group workshops and seminars and many intentionally designed and delivered educational opportunities in response to COVID-19 for students.  Check out what SACS offers here.

Some of SACS exciting and innovative educational opportunities designed for students with students first in mind are:

UNSW Next Step Program

The UNSW Next Step Program is a new initiative that supports final year, undergraduate students to succeed in landing a job after university. The T2 program has commenced online in Week 6.  Applications for the T3 program will formally open on 7 September 2020, until which time students can register their interest in participating

UNSW Thesis Writing Online Bootcamp

The Bootcamp is a collaboration between the Graduate Research School and the Academic Language and Learning team within SACS. Traditionally, it is delivered face-to-face over two days, however it was successfully adapted to an online format comprising workshop and writing spaces and using a number of Teams channels involving 6 Academic Language & Learning Facilitators creating a lot more consultation opportunities.  The new online format ran on 6 July and saw a 500% increase in attendance on any previous year. The next bootcamp will open to students in August

Academic and Career Success Planner: An adaptive and personalised learning tool
As part of Flexi Week, SACS launched a new online adaptive and personalised learning tool targeted at undergraduate students to better support their academic and career learning journeys.  Students complete 2 questions related to their career journey and academic skills and receive a personalised ”Career and Academic Planner.” The planner provides recommendations and tips on how SACS can support them based on their individual responses. The Planner is open 24/7 for students!

Professional Development Program

During term break in T2,  the PD Program purposively designed for international students saw a record breaking participation from 25 different nationalities represented among 96 students. The Program, which is usually delivered in person, was quickly converted to a fully online program to still enable international students to partake in this employability program in the current circumstances.  Students are now completing online group consulting projects with various units across UNSW including the division of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion! The program will open again in T3! To host students for a group consulting project in Term 3, please contact us
