Lightning Workshops

Lightning Workshops are hands-on, 1-hour sessions designed to enhance the teaching skills and courses of UNSW academics in a collaborative environment. During each workshop, participants have the opportunity to design, refine, and implement strategies to enhance their students' learning experience.

Open to all UNSW teaching staff including casual academic staff, each workshop offers opportunities to learn about evidenced based teaching strategies, explore common student and staff concerns, engage in discussion and develop educational resources through collaborative work. These sessions are highly collaborative, informal, and foster a sense of community. Participants often include academic staff, educational developers, casual academic staff members with guest spots showcasing the diversity of expertise at UNSW. Sessions, where appropriate also offer educational technology support opportunities.

Following each session, staff members are free to utilise the drop-in session times in the Teaching Commons to collaborate further, ask questions, or discuss innovative ideas in teaching and learning. Please feel free to book a consultation time here

Starting this term we also have two exciting new streams of workshops: Inclusive Teaching Workshops and Practitioner Workshops introducing new topics and featuring special guests with a range of expertise at UNSW. Both series offer great opportunities to learn something new, consolidate your teaching practice and build connections with like-minded teachers in the community.
