Focus on linguistically and culturally diverse students: Challenges, strategies, support
This session will unpack the challenges faced by international students from non-native English-speaking backgrounds and offer some strategies and practical ways of addressing those challenges from the perspective of an English as a Second Language and linguistics educator. The focus is on language and communication skills and how to approach delivering feedback in this area.
The aim of the session is to spark reflection around this topic in the context of the attendees’ own teaching processes, classroom management techniques and feedback strategies, as well as to offer some practical suggestions on how to support linguistically and culturally diverse students in the class.
