UNSW Online launches new Master of Applied Finance

The new Master of Applied Finance provides students with the fundamental knowledge to make sound financial decisions at all business levels in both domestic and global contexts.

This program offers students the opportunity to complete 8 core courses and gain foundational knowledge in areas such as Corporate Finance, International Finance and Equity Valuation, plus 4 elective courses in the areas of Financial Technology, Management and Analytics to broaden their foundational knowledge.

Designed by the School of Banking and Finance at UNSW Business School, the program suite comprises of a Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Masters. The Graduate Certificate in Finance was launched in July 2021 and will be relaunched as the Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance in 2022.   

“The Applied Finance program is designed for ambitious individuals looking not only for advanced financial knowledge, but also for hands-on and relevant applications of such knowledge. It’s designed for professionals who want to gain the specialised skills for a career in the finance industry. The program is aligned with the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) curriculum, allowing graduates to position themselves well to pursue the CFA designation – a globally respected and recognised investment credential.” Luis Goncalves-Pinto, the Program Director, said.

Delivered 100% online in the hexamester accelerated calendar, with six intakes of seven-week study blocks each year, enabling students to gain an introduction to core concepts and principles associated with the financial management of organisations.

UNSW Online’s Senior Manager Sepi Seuala said “the new fully online Master of Applied Finance will offer flexible study options to equip students with the knowledge to move into a career in finance”.

Applications are now open for the Master of Applied Finance and Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance, with the first student intake commencing in Hexamester 2, 2022 (28 February 2022). Applications for the Graduate Certificate in Finance are open.
