Designing for All: Student-Centered Accessibility in Moodle

Learning Management Systems like Moodle can be wonderful resources for our students but it also has the potential to create (unintentional) barriers. This presentation will explore the ways we can consider both web and cognitive accessibility in our Moodle courses, flipping the perspective with a demonstration on what students may see and experience whilst navigating the platform in their studies.

Academic Learning Facilitator

Louisa Cardinale is a Doctor of Education candidate and Academic Learning Facilitator at UNSW. Her current research focus is on Learning Management Systems for inclusive learning, with a particular focus on aligning online learning strategies to the neurodiverse cognitive architecture.

Louisa has an MTeach (Secondary) from UNSW and was employed as an English teacher in both Australia and England. She has taught students throughout 7-12 including those completing their Higher School Certificate (HSC), International Baccalaureate (IB) and General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). She has also served as an HSC marker during her 8 years as a secondary educator.
