Master of Cyber Security

UNSW Online has launched its latest program, the Master of Cyber Security. A collaboration with UNSW Engineering and UNSW Canberra, the first intake will commence in Hexamester 6, October 2020.

Director of UNSW Online Liz Smith said the launch of the new fully online cyber security Program is incredibly timely. “Students pursuing the Master of Cyber Security will enter an industry that requires an estimated 16,600 additional professionals in both technical and non-technical cybersecurity positions by 20261. The recent media headlines surrounding cyber attacks and the Federal Government’s plan to invest more in cyber security to bolster the nation’s defence reinforce the need for this program.”

The Program Authority, Professor Richard Buckland, who is an expert in Computer Security, Cybercrime, and Cyberwar says the Master of Cyber Security is designed for ambitious professionals who want to leverage rapidly expanding career opportunities within the field of cyber by becoming expert practitioners or leaders. Cybercrime is on the rise, with Australians reporting cyber security incidents every 10 minutes, and costing Australian businesses $29 billion each year2. He identified the new Master of Cyber Security program as having an important role to play in equipping professionals to ensure safe and secure online experiences, even to the most vulnerable online users.

Students studying the Master of Cyber Security program may specialise in either Management and Leadership led by academic Dr Benjamin Turnbull a Senior Lecturer at UNSW Canberra and or Security Engineering which will be led by  Dr Jiaojiao Jiang a lecturer at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, UNSW. There is also an option to graduate early with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma.

UNSW Online delivers online accelerated programs enabling UNSW students to study anywhere at any time and graduate within two years without taking time out of the workforce.
