Our Commons is now officially open!

On Wednesday 20 September 2023, education colleagues from all corners of the university gathered to celebrate the official welcome to our newest education space on campus, the Teaching Commons.

The grand opening ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor Attila Brungs, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Sarah Maddison and Professor Louise Lutze-Mann, with a beautiful Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country by Aunty Maxine Ryan, and an introduction to Douglas Annand's unique mosaics adorning the walls by Elena Taylor.

The warm atmosphere of the event was a perfect example of what the Commons is all about!

What is the Teaching Commons?

UNSW’s Teaching Commons is a physical space on our Kensington campus for educators to meet, collaborate and learn. Home to education-related meetings, workshops, talks and drop-in sessions, the Teaching Commons is a new focal point for our education community at UNSW.

In addition to programmed events, education specialist colleagues are available by appointment or walk-in Tuesday–Thursday, 10am–4pm to provide feedback and advice on your education-related ideas and questions. Bring along your design dilemma, assessment task, or ed tech question to brainstorm and get help.

Teaching Commons Event

All education staff, academic and professional, are invited to stop by any time during opening hours to have a chat about teaching and learning at UNSW. You can find the Teaching Commons on the ground floor of the Dalton Building (F12), halfway up University Mall, where JG's cafe used to be.
