The Academic Development Services team had a productive year with a suite of opportunities offered to the UNSW community and one of their programs receiving national recognition.
The pilot Academic Mentoring scheme, launched earlier this year, received national recognition as a finalist in the 2019 Australasian Academic Development Good Practice Awards. Support embedded within the scheme is provided via a website, a guide and resources, with mentors also able to access professional development workshops. Meet the mentors in our pilot scheme here.
A new Online Teaching module was designed to support effective teaching of fully-online content. Successfully delivered as a pilot in May, it is now being adopted by the Faculty of Engineering and UNSW Business School.
Engagement with other ADS opportunities – at a glance:
- This year, 293 academic and professional staff completed the Foundations of University Learning and Teaching (FULT) Program
- 26 Connections Seminars reached 661 attendees online and in-person from across the University, enabling the sharing of good practice in learning and teaching across the disciplines
- The annual Learning and Teaching Forum saw high attendance from our education community, with 288 people engaging with the presentations throughout the day
- 218 Summative Peer Reviews of Teaching were undertaken in 2019, to reach a total of 356 reviews to date
